eD A3-300 Subwoofer Review

Posted on July 10th, 2009 by admin

More size perspectiveOk, it’s been a while since I took these pics, but that doesn’t mean Elemental Design’s new A3-300 isn’t noteworthy.  Just means I am a slacker, while the A3-300 is not.  I had the opportunity to play with this sub before it went to a friends home and it’s a solid piece of home theater hardware.  Let me tell you what the beast is all about.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Yes indeed, I love the first Transformers movie, so I had to get out and see the new one opening weekend.  I don’t want to spoil the movie for you, so I’ll just give you two words:  Sensory Overload!  In my opinion there is a fairly accurate review over at avrev.com so check it out if you want a spoiler.

Red RE5 XBox 360

Posted on June 22nd, 2009 by admin

RE5 Edition XBox 360The Resident Evil 5 Edition XBox 360 has been out for several months now.  It is actually true that I bought mine only 2 days after the release.  Of course, because I owned another 360, it didn’t get pulled out of the box for a month.  I got a bunch of pics of the darn thing and started using it, but it’s taken another several months to post.  Why is life so busy?  Anyway, it’s a very cool color, and this gallery of images should let you know just how good it looks.

Slacker

Posted on May 18th, 2009 by admin

Yes, it’s true, I am a slacker.  Well, sometimes…  In case you are wondering, I DID get that special edition red Resident Evil XBox 360 out and actually use it, and I have a hundred pics I need to go through before I post.  I DID get to test out eD’s new A3-300 sub and even got some in room response data graphed up.  I DID work some more on the Mega Cab project.  I DID order a bunch of banana plugs from several companies to make a full review on.  What does that mean?  I have too many projects half way finished and none of them complete.  Therefore, I am a slacker.   Anyway, check back every couple of days and I’ll really try to get my images and mini-reviews posted.  Trust me, it’ll be worth it!

Elemental Designs – Road Trip

Posted on April 17th, 2009 by admin

Welcome to Elemental Designs!Myself and Mr. Chris Seymour of SeymourAV.com had a fantastic trip to Newton, IA on Wednesday.  We brought the gift of malty beverages to Ben and the guys and had a fantastic time checking out the production facilities!  Now, what’s so special about a big building, some dusty dudes working in a shop and driving to a small town in Iowa?  Subwoofers!  Yes!

Endangered Species

mouselove.jpgCan it be true?  Is the Logitech Cordless Click Optical Mouse really dying?  My favorite mouse is almost gone from the wild!  You see, Logitech no longer manufactures this particular breed of mouse and it’s only available from places like eBay or Amazon as a used or refurb.  You might get lucky and find a few still brand new but you’ll be paying the new price.  I recently picked up these 2 mice for about $30 total shipped.  Fifteen bones is pretty good for a great mouse like this.  What makes it so great?

MegaCab Teaser

Posted on April 1st, 2009 by admin

teaser-tv.jpgYes, that’s right, it’s time for quick preview of that project I mentioned a while back.  I have had a little time to build and gather and buy components for my crazy MegaCab.  I know, you are wondering to yourself, “Why is it a MegaCab?”  Well my dear readers, it’s because the screen is so huge!  Well, 36″ huge in CRT format.  It’s heavy and huge.  Of course, our nice flat panel screens these days get larger and cheaper, but the sheer presence of the old school set makes it seem huge even when greater visual surface area can be had.

Movie Ponies

Posted on March 25th, 2009 by admin

I ran across this today and I just couldn’t help but share the work of Finnish artist Mari Kasurinen.  Now, just to clarify, I was never into “My Little Ponies” as kid or even now, actually.  But these are just one of those things you have to see to believe.  Be sure to check out her web site for more great pony mods!  http://www.marikasurinen.com/
